Art lovers visit Winter Street Studios to view artwork by up for auction created by some of Houston's most talented artists
J Roe Photography
With nearly 500 original works from more than 250 local artists, Art on the Avenue is Houston's ultimate “buy local” fundraiser. Now in its 23rd year, the event has grown to become the city’s largest silent charity art auction, benefiting the community revitalization efforts of non-profit community development organization Avenue. Not only does each art purchase support Avenue’s mission to build affordable homes and strengthen communities – it also gives back to Houston’s thriving arts community and the artists who make the event possible.
Due to the ongoing risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will take place mostly virtually - over five days – with an online auction and the option to view artwork in person safely during open hours and by appointment. Avenue will be implementing strict safety guidelines and will require that all in-person visitors adhere to them in order to participate. A livestream program will take place on Saturday to close out the auction and contactless curbside pickup is available for all winning bidders. [Organizer's description]
