Spend your summer with The Health Museum from the comfort of your own home! Keep your kids engaged and learning with Summer Discovery Camps in a Box: Unpack the Science! Summer Discovery Camps in A Box is a series of health-themed boxes that have been designed to keep children engaged in STEM activities while learning about medical science and the human body. Through hands-on learning and experimentation, campers learn about science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and intuitive way, while making new “virtual” friends. Taking place from Monday, July 27 through Friday, August 17, 2020, these camps will be available for students ages 5 to 13 years old.
This year’s camp will deliver a limited selection of The Health Museum’s most popular summer camps for each age group. Skilled educators for the museum will deliver lessons virtually and will be available to help provide “live” targeted guidance and assistance to students as they work through activities and projects. Best of all, students get the chance to socialize with other like-minded kids and feel connected to a community! Each camp takes place at a specified time throughout the week and lasts for one hour.
All specific camp materials will be provided with the exception of liquids and basic school supplies.
Discovery Camps in A Box includes: three Science Activities/Experiments, one hour of educational engagement for your child every day for one week, live interaction with one educator from The Health Museum, individual supply boxes with class-specific supplies.
The cost to register is $90 for members and $100 for non-members. Registration is required one week in advance, and enrollment for all camps closes at 11:59 p.m. the Monday prior to the start of the individual camps. An onboarding email with the required materials will be sent by Friday evening, which must be reviewed ahead of the class start time. Parents will be able to pick up their camp supplies on Fridays prior to the start of the individual camps at the museum at a designated time.
Classes are delivered via Zoom and facilitated by one museum educator and one moderator. All logins to access the platform will be provided by The Health Museum in a separate email. In order to participate in Summer Discovery Camps in A Box, you will need a laptop/desktop computer with an internet connection and will need to download Zoom video conferencing software.
