Virtual Midtown Art in the Park

We invite you to spend your Saturday morning with us online as we take a brief history tour of Midtown Houston, shop til we drop with 40+ area artists, grab some great food from a Midtown area restaurant and sit back and listen to music from some of Htown's best musicians. We can't wait to get our hands dirty with one or ALL of our interesting ArtJams that are sure to spark kindness in our HeART. Catch us on our Facebook page at #midtownHOU starting at 10:00AM. ArtJams - Virtual Activities: Create a Vision Board with local artist Melba Lee - After Hours Collection: the artists leading this activity asks us to think about our vision of what we want 2021 to be as we think about ourselves, our community, and the world around us as we move out of pandemic and into a deeper place of kindness. Supplies: Collect your supplies from home, a folder or cardboard, glue, scissors, old sheet music, maps, travel brochures, magazines. Kindness Rocks with Marissa of Chakra Creations: Essential Oil Infused paint pens are used to paint specialty rocks. While painting the artists will educate us on the growing Kindness Movement and how we can participate Supplies: Pre -order a box with a set of 12 essential oil infused paint pens, 3 rocks with pre-printed art and 1 blank rock. Henna Designs with Macy of Henna Love - Houston: We get brief history of Henna and a step-by-step lesson on a simple design. We learn how about after care of our henna as we ink kindness on our body. Supplies: Pre-order a kit with a set of applicators, 1 henna cone, 1 gel pen, aftercare spritz, and lotion cone. Virtual Band Performances: Kick off your morning with beloved Htown Jazz great Woody Witt. Get your dancing shoes on and don't miss the R&B Soul sounds of the Vanguard Collective. Hang out with us and Htown's own Tejas Roots Music musician Nick Gaitan. Check It Out! Camden McGowen Station Window Display by Shelbi Nicole located at 2727 Travis (facing Travis Street) was commissioned to honor our annual art festival. Look for Shelbi's signature whimsey, bright colors and our HeART. The Midtown Park Chalk Wall will be activated by Macy of Henna Love Houston (scheduled for April, 1st) with a design that reminds us all that Art is Still in our HeART. This event is hosted and underwritten by the Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee of the Midtown Management District. Our HeARTs are filled with gratitude as we acknowledge some of the funding for this event came from the Houston Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs through Houston Arts Alliance.
