Waxworks

Waxworks

A classic of German Expressionism, this was Paul Leni’s last German film before making his way to America. A starving poet asked to write about the figures in the fantastic waxworks invents four portraits of cruelty. A haunting atmosphere is created through the expressionistic sets and ingenious lighting effects.
