Fred's Italian Corner Restaurant

This is a small, cozy, down-to-earth, red-checkered-tablecloth, neighborhood Italian spot, close to the Med Center. At lunch, you order at the counter; at dinner, there's table service. If you're looking for decent, filling spaghetti and meatballs, linguine and clam sauce, chicken cacciatore, veal or eggplant parmigiana or a sausage-and-meatball sandwich, this is your place (although their thin-crust pizza could do with being crisper).
