Spring Branch Community Health Center (“SBCHC”) is dedicated to creating opportunities for families to prioritize their health and have fun. SBCHC’s 7th Annual SUPER Walk for Wellness is organized in partnership with Spring Branch Independent School District. The walk will be held May 9, 2020 at Hollibrook Elementary (3602 Hollister Road, Houston, TX 77080).
We are asking all sponsors and participants to unleash their inner super hero to help SBCHC promote proper nutrition, exercise and the value of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The event will focus on providing fun, education, and activity for local low-income families.
The goal is to raise awareness and educate the public about the chronic health issues. Such efforts are especially important since those who are most likely to develop chronic illness in our community often lack the resources to manage complex symptoms. Chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, are among the most prevalent and costly to our city. These diseases disproportionately affect those in our area who lack the financial resources to access medical services. Fortunately, these illnesses are the most preventable of all health problems! Attendees are encouraged to come to the event dressed as their favorite super hero to take fun photos and win prizes. This family-friendly event is open to the public and features dozens of vendors and community supporters. On-site partners will provide free health education opportunities, promote a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and exercise, and offer access to reduced cost or free medical and social services.
