Katy Elks Lodge 2628

You or someone you know could be a caregiver. They are people who regularly look after a child or a sick, elderly, or disabled person. There are more than 3-million Texans, young and old, who help care for their loved ones by assisting with daily activities like cooking meals, managing medications and providing transportation to and from appointments. Many of them are veterans. Caregiving comes with enormous responsibilities—and pressures. Many times, caregivers are at risk of emotional, health and financial problems. If families had to pay for the care they give, it would cost at least $450 billion a year nationally. AARP is hosting a free Caregiver Connection event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 6, at Katy Elks Lodge 2628, located at 1051 Katy Fort Bend Road in Katy. The idea is to educate caregivers about government and non-profit services and resources. Healthcare experts will be on hand to give direction to those in need. There will be workshops and exhibits. Participants are encouraged to RSPV by dialing toll-free at 1-877-926-8300.
