The building that houses the Kraftsmen Bakery and Cafe was built in 1894 and originally functioned as a textile mill. It's the ninth oldest building in Houston, and it also holds a few other businesses, but none is quite as bustling as the Kraftsmen Bakery. Nearly 24 hours a day, people can be seen scurrying about the space, baking and packaging everything from hamburger buns to baguettes to pastries and anything in between. Kraftsmen is primarily a wholesale business, providing baked goods to restaurants across the city and even in other states. Stop by the cafe to sample sandwiches on fresh baked bread, or just drive by with your windows down and breathe in that yeasty air.
