Majestic Metro

David Rozycki
Located near Market Square Park downtown, the Majestic Metro is a historic theater that was restored and opened in 1990 as a special-events venue that can be rented out for private parties, corporate events, wedding receptions and more. Originally opened in 1926 as the first movie theater in Houston with air conditioning, the hand-crafted, elegant, architecturally detailed building was constructed by Houston architect William Ward Watkin, designer of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and many of the buildings at Rice University. Today, the theater has a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, large dance floor, movie-screen backdrop and a restored grand marquee out front that announces your event to passers-by on the street below.
