Melt

Melt is homey, not only for its stained picnic table-bedecked, mural-swathed interior, but also for its decadent grilled cheese features. The industrial lighting and slatted wooden walls almost give the sense of chowing down in someone’s garage on superbly executed grilled cheeses. Decadent hits like the Fatwitch (sliced rib eye, grilled onions, mushrooms, cheddar and fontina cheese) or King Thong (stuffed with brisket, mac ‘n cheese, bacon and cheddar) are artery-clogging but delicious. Buttery, fresh-baked bread from Slow Dough Bakery is grilled to crispy perfection. Each sandwich comes accompanied with potato salad, chips or coleslaw. Those with a sweet tooth should consider ordering Melt’s über-popular s’mores, a creation featuring marshmallows, nutella, bacon and graham crackers.
