The disconnect between high-quality, authentic ingredients and poor execution at Nundini Chef's Table Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar left us scratching our heads. This cozy, romantic Italian restaurant and delicatessen, by leading Houston purveyor of Italian foods Giampaolo Nundini, does shows great promise. While many of the more ambitious dishes, like veal alla milanese and fettuccine all'uovo papalina, missed the mark, some of the simpler entries, like spaghetti pomodoro fresco e basilico and white pizza topped with bresaola (air-dried beef from Northern Italy), were ideal pairings for the restaurant's extensive and wonderfully affordable wine list, which covers nearly every winemaking region in Italy. The refreshingly reasonable wine mark-ups will have us coming back for more as this newly opened Italian — sure to become a hometown favorite — finds its bearings.
