Rise No. 2, at 1700 Post Oak, Suite 290, in BLVD Place in the Galleria area, is the second location of Hedda Gioia Dowd’s southern French-inspired salon de soufflé. The original store launched in Dallas in 2008, more than a decade after Dowd found success selling antiques procured from southern French chateaux and farms. Together with chef Cherif Brahmi, Dowd was inspired to present the “simplicity and versatility of the soufflé.” Rise No. 2 offers both savory and sweet soufflés, as well as everyday French foods such as a lovely salad Niçoise and uniquely dressed steamed artichoke Andrée. The dining room is bright, airy and decorated with items that diners can purchase. The cheese cart is not to be missed, and the best seats in the house are tucked underneath the old schoolhouse desk tables right in front of the open-concept kitchen, giving a full view of the soufflé magic.
