Chef and owner Kevin Naderi has created Montrose restaurant Roost as a reflection of his own culinary inspirations, and they are many: It’s farm-to-table, enhanced with Persian, Japanese, Thai, Korean and Mediterranean flavors alongside local craft beer and a short wine list. It all works, though, and the nightly crowds attest to this. Naderi won the Houston Press Menu of Menus Iron Fork competition so many times (four), he had to retire. He also conquered Food Network star Bobby Flay on his show, Beat Bobby Flay. Hit Roost to get a glimpse of his talent, like the signature dish of roasted cauliflower topped with bonito flakes. It’s one of the few constants on the ever-changing but always impressive locally-inspired menu.
