Southern Goods is comfortable, smart and fun with economical prices and a big list of craft beers to boot. It’s helmed by Lyle Bento, whom many will remember as Chris Shepherd’s right-hand man at Underbelly, and Charles Bishop, who also co-owns Ladybirds bar. J.D. Woodward is the chef de cuisine, and pit master Patrick Feges is the sous chef. The Southern-inspired menu changes with the seasons of the South, but you’ll always find the grand SG Burger. With not one but two patties made with a house-ground blend of beef chuck, brisket and bacon (each of which is covered with melted cheese), plus housemade comeback sauce, it’s easily one of the best burgers in town. Couple that with an inviting, comfortable atmosphere, excellent craft beer program with a big monitor to display the current list and a few fun plays on Southern cocktails, and you have yourself a seriously good time.
