9 Cool & Cheap Weekenders: Alkari, Black Bananas, Chico Trujillo, Etc.

Chilean rocker Chico Trujillo wraps up his leg of Texas shows Sunday at the Continental Club. Expect dancing, and lots of it: Trujillo brought "an orgy of percussion layered with brass, organ, ska guitar and even some prominent slide-whistling" to his appearance at iFest last month, wrote Rocks Off's Nathan Smith. Los Skarnales open, making this sound even better, and doors open at 7 p.m (better still). Tickets at Sig's Lagoon's Web site.

Mmmmm...Cop Warmth...Mango's. Sunday. White Suns, the Chemicals, Noguey and Electric Sleep will do their best to make sure you won't even make it that far.

If you remember Royal Trux and then RTX, two of the trashiest bands in the entire annals of '90s and '00s scuzz-rock, you'll want to be at Walter's Sunday for the "Drag City All-Stars Show" featuring Black Bananas, RTX queen Jennifer Herrema's latest endeavor into the realms of sleaze and noise. Joining her are Dwarr, described as a "cult bedroom-metal legend," and Magik Markers.
