St. Catharines, Ontario-based Alexisonfire epitomizes the annoying new breed of punk rockers. Check their new album, Crisis. There’s brash, guttural screaming, a melodic sing-along chorus, 4/4 time, an in-your-face attitude and slamming beats — just the kind of stuff this generation’s easily engrossed, technologically astute kids are eating up in great quantities. (Anyone checked MTV2 lately?) Yep, today’s punk rockers are now super-styled, whiny, suburban white kids who grow their hair like the actors on The O.C. (ironically, the birthplace of West Coast punk rock).
