BestFest Adds Hayes Carll, Carolyn Wonderland, Slim Thug & Against Me!

Who loves you, Houston? Rocks Off does, silly.

We are proud to welcome these four artists to BestFest, September 24 and 25 at the Midtown superblock: Woodlands boy turned alt-country golden child Hayes Carll; native Houstonian blues belter Carolyn Wonderland; boss of all bosses/human tweet Slim Thug; and Tallahassee-bred vein-bulging punks Against Me!

So, yes, we hope you will join us exactly one month from today. Take the MetroRail to McGowen and don't worry about parking.

Hayes Carll: After conquering the Americana world with his album KMAG YOYO - a surefire Top 5 for Rocks Off and many others, and may wind up the most-played Americana album of the year - Carll continues his assault on mainstream country with incursions into Jazzercise and line dancing.

Carolyn Wonderland: The winner of many, many Houston Press Music Awards shared an Austin City Limits bill with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings last weekend. Conveniently enough, her brand-new album, Peace Meal, comes out the Tuesday after BestFest on Ray Benson's Bismeaux Records.

Slim Thug: Most recently oversaw the creation and release of his Boss Hogg Outlawz crew's odds 'n outtakes Outlaw Wayz and next week's Serve and Collect 3 mixtape. Other than that, here are a few of Thugga's recent tweets. He appears to have a newfound fascination with Guns N' Roses, annotating many of them with "gnr."

Against Me!: After some Canadian dates with Blink-182, using BestFest to warm up for a fall European tour. Recently recorded a cover the Clash's "Janie Jones for The Onion's A.V. Club (below). Took 'em long enough.

Now, on to what many of you have been waiting for: Who is playing what day? Rocks Off is happy to oblige. Note: This is not the order in which the artists will be appearing.

Saturday: Against Me!. Chamillionaire, Bun B, Slim Thug, The Tontons

Sunday: Cake, Deer Tick, Buxton, Hayes Carll, Carolyn Wonderland

Weekend passes and much more information at bestfesthouston.com. You have exactly one week until the price of general-admission and VIP passes goes up from $25 and $95, respectively. Get cracking.

More BestFest names soon. Rocks Off may give away some passes soon too, if you're nice to us and keep reading. Just saying.
