Support the independent voice of Houston and help keep the future of Houston Press free.
Many have asked about a benefit for music editor Chris Gray and we're finally able to announce the HUGE benefit that will take place Saturday, January 14 at the Continental Club and the surrounding block we just call "the island." The bonanza of bands gets started at 10 a.m. and runs until they throw us out (or 2 a.m., whichever you prefer.
You can get initial details at ChrisGrayBenefit.com and make donations online. You can also visit Cactus Music or Sig's Lagoon and they will gladly accept donations as well.
But, mainly we want you to be there and show your support to help Chris defray mounting healthcare costs. Minimum donation is $20, but with it you get a wristband to attend this killer day-long event. There is no maximum donation limit, so give as much as you can.
We will have a list of band names soon. Until then, get ready because this is going to rock... as it should.
Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
