On Saturday, there will be some amazing bands at Chris Gray Day, which is completely appropriate when you consider who this is for. There is also the whole "let's raise some money for Chris Gray" thing. Really, this should be enough for you to want to show up and spend some cash.

But, yesterday when we told you about some of the auction items available for purchase, we hoped that would make you want to come even more. As an enticement, here are some photos of what will be available. Gentlemen (and ladies), start your checkbooks.

Rare 13th Floor Elevators singles.

Autographed Justin Townes Earle swag.

Hayes Carll signed comic book. Seriously.

Steve Earle signed Townes swag.

Gibson Epiphone guitar autographed by Joan Jett

Those are just a few of the MANY items available.

You can purchase tickets for CGD or donate a little bit of cash at this Houston Press website, and this WordPress site is updated with the latest news on the benefit.

The bonanza of bands gets started at 10 a.m. and runs until they throw us out (or 2 a.m., whichever you prefer.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
