The drinking stops tonight. Rocks Off is joining
30,000 other crazy, hardy souls to run the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon this Sunday. (We're running the half - it's only our second race ever.) The past several months have been filled with long tedious runs in all kinds of weather, speed training, sore muscles and exhaustion. Someone please have a beer ready for us at the end.
Forget The Boss and Bob Seger. We need at least two hours of running songs to keep us motivated over 13.1 miles. Below, the Rocks Off Half-Marathon Playlist. Do you have a running playlist of your own? Leave your suggestions in the comments.
"Run, Run, Run," The Velvet Underground
"Runaround Sue," Dion
"Run," Air
"Going the Distance," Cake
Okay, Rocks Off knows this song is about car races. Or, errr, something else. But it's still got a good beat for pounding... the pavement.
"(I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles," The Proclaimers
Kennedy! Also, this song will be stuck in your head all day. You're welcome. Rocks Off is glad we're not running an ultra-marathon.
"I Ran," Flock of Seagulls
"Break My Stride," Matthew Wilder
Now you're feeling cocky!
"Ain't No Stopping Us Now," McFadden & Whitehead
"Eye of the Tiger," as imagined by Marjane Satrapi
She makes Rocks Off feel tough.
"Roadrunner," Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers
"Roadrunner," Bo Diddley
"Roadrunner," Hurriganes
"Roadrunner," The Pretty Things
The "Roadrunner" Theme
Okay, now we're just being silly.
"Making Time," The Creation
"Fast As You," Dwight Yoakam
"Don't Stop," The Rolling Stones
"Born To Run," Emmylou Harris
"Roam," The B-52s
"Run and Run," The Psychedelic Furs
"Run Through The Jungle," Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Running Free," Iron Maiden
"Run, Nigga," The Last Poets
Time is running out!
"Gonna Fly Now," aka "The Rocky Theme"
Can someone hold a boombox at the finish line
Lloyd Dobler-style and play this song as we cross? We'll throw our fists into the air and everything!
