The Houston Press is looking for freelance music writers to grow our ranks. Needed are people who are passionate and knowledgeable about the Houston music scene and are willing to report on it while meeting deadlines.

The pace of the job varies. Concert reviews are due the morning after the performance. Interview and enterprise stories can take a little longer to develop. The ability to write about others rather than navel gazing is crucial. Photography skills are a plus as is the ability to learn the computer software program used in filing a story with us.

If interested, please send 3-5 samples of your best writing (links to the specific stories are fine), two story pitches suitable for the Houston Press, a resume and cover letter about why you believe this is the job for you to: [email protected]

No phone calls please.
