For the record, Rocks Off is well aware there is more to GhoulsFest than Black Congress not playing the ten-hour festival at Tom Bass Park tomorrow. A lot more. We also wish BC nothing but the best opening for New Orleans Sabbathites Eyehategod at Walter's tonight and at Moon Tower Inn's "Party at the Moon Tower" mini-fest on Halloween.
Anyway, Rocks Off is getting a little long in the tooth for all-day outdoor festivals, but we're actually looking forward to GhoulsFest. We can't imagine the weather being any more perfect, and for us it looks like a long afternoon and evening of bands we've enjoyed for years (...Trail of Dead, Spain Colored Orange), a band we never thought we'd see (Bad Brains) and a couple of wild cards (Macy Gray, Daniel Johnston).
So here's a quick thumbnail guide to GhoulsFest. We never thought we'd ever say this - about a music festival especially - but see you in Pearland. Gates open at noon.

A DANCE LABYRINTH?
Now this sounds interesting. DJs including Bizz, Manu and Fat Tony will be spinning at the "Hazey Maze" Dance Party, inside what GhoulsFest calls a "harvest-style labyrinth maze with a giant fog-filled dance floor." We'll bite.
Still available for $45 at Cactus Music, Kingpinz Skate Shop and www.ghoulsfest.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate Saturday, but the price will increase.
Free and guaranteed for the first 1,500 vehicles. There is no shuttle from downtown Houston.
FOOD AND DRINK
Lots, including $4 Saint Arnold's until 5 p.m.... when the price goes up to $5.
Rocks Off is definitely going to check out the "Smashing Pumpkins Patch," where there will supposedly be plenty of orange gourds on hand ready to be demolished Gallagher-style. We may wander over to the arcade area furnished by Joystix, especially if the pinball and video games are set up for free play, and probably take a gander at Kingpinz's half-pipe set up for demo displays by local skateboarding teams.
