Support the independent voice of Houston and help keep the future of Houston Press free.

Local electro arrivistes Glasnost and piss-taking blog Houston's Most Hated want you to bust out those headphones, fire up the laptop and pick out some choice beats and blips for one of three songs: "Come Alone," "Great Divide" and "Static." The tracks are posted at HMH here, available for download until February 13; submissions should be sent to tracks@houstonsmosthated.com. Entries will be posted on the site as they come in, and finalists will be announced February 13. Voting runs February 13-19, and the winner will be announced February 20.

What might he or she win? Glad you asked. Guaranteed entry into HMH's SXSW party (think Glasnost might be playing?), and the remix on the band's upcoming The Great Divide EP. This contest has a lot of rules - no uncleared samples, only one mix per person, etc., so please do read them. And get mixing!

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
