After tomorrow's third-place match and Sunday's final, Rocks Off will be sorry to see the World Cup go away for another four years. We've grown pretty fond of those vuvuzelas, and besides, there hasn't been much else to cheer about sporting-wise around Houston for, like ever. See you at the MLS All-Star game at Reliant Stadium at the end of the month, we guess.
The end of the Cup also means there are no longer any reasons for us to stumble across pictures like this and call it "work." Sigh. So to bid the World Cup
so long farewell auf wiedersehen good night (and adios), we put together a collage of as many soccer-related album covers as we could find.
Special thanks to Cutout Bin correspondent Nick DiFonzo for his assistance. Be sure to check out Nick's newly revamped Web site at bizarrerecords.com.
Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
