Houston Press 15th Anniversary Party, Featuring Hollertronix

Hollertronix DJ Diplo was partially raised in the gator-infested suburbs north of Miami and has since called Philly home. You can hear the sounds of both of those places in his music -- the Miami bass, reggae and Dirty South crunk-rap of South Florida and the hipster/retro new wave of Philly. (Evidently, it's the new Brooklyn -- read last Sunday's New York Times if you don't believe us.) But that's not all. Alongside Hollertronix potna Low Budget, Diplo and his three turntables also crank out the funk and ragas too. It'll be the nowest sound in town and a good distillation of much of the music this paper has featured the past decade and a half.
KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
