Houston's Top 10 Latin Bars and Clubs

As our sister blog Eating...Our Words does, from time to time Rocks Off will be giving your our picks for the top taverns in various Houston-area neighborhoods. Of course, the lines can be porous, but here anything with a TABC license that cannot reasonably be considered either a restaurant, coffeehouse or live-music venue is fair game.

10. BELVEDERE Belvedere is not technically a Latin bar, but that doesn't mean it can't have a great Latin night, now does it? This upscale lounge has been home to Latin Thursdays for the past seven years, and the awesome DJs keep the place ridiculously packed. So if you're planning to strap on your bachata shoes and head over, best do so early.

9. FOX HOLLOW Does the name Bombon ring a bell? If so, you're probably familiar with Fox Hollow's Latin nights, which boast some of the city's best Latin music to go with the drink specials, salsa lessons, and some ridiculously hot dancers taking over the dance floor. Sometimes they'll even throw in live salsa music for good measure.

8. ESCAPADE This place is compound of six Latin clubs spread into two buildings, which makes for plenty of space to bust a move or six. Plenty of live music too. Needless to say Escapade gets super-packed, with everything from rap to merengue and punta. Between that, the dancers, and the huge TV screens that line the walls, the dance floor is a dizzying, maddening place to be, which only adds to the allure.
