Hunx & His Punx

This coed Oakland, California, garage-pop band is like a trashy, albeit imaginary, John Waters movie come to life. Sassy lead singer Seth "Hunx" Bogart sings about cruising, crushing and carousing with the help of a three-piece all-girl band while wearing panty hose over stripper panties. At least that's what happened when we saw them at SXSW last month. It's fun stuff, especially when the girls chime in with those demented doo-wop vocals behind their broken-hearted garage-punk. The Punx's newest LP, Too Young To Be In Love, is a stellar slab of boy-crazy stunners and a few weepy ballads, and easily one of the fullest garage meals you will ingest this year. No matter whether you fancy boys, girls, or even both, Bogart and his gals know how to tug at your jaded heartstrings.
