More Local Music News Than Fighting Navy SEALs

It's not every week that Arcade Fire returns to the suburbs whose ennui inspired a Grammy-winning album, but it is every week that we bring a brimming local music roundup for all of our Rocks Off readers. Without further ado, we present the latest installment of Magnolia City Mixtape.

Hot off the proverbial presses: Tickets for Kings of Leon's July 30 show with Band of Horses at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.

Friendly reminder: Young Girls' EP release show tonight has moved from Warehouse Live to 2115 Commerce.

Otenki has been busy with their Billboard Music contest. Here's a new video feature on the band, and they've got a fancy new photo from the contest.

What have we said about Trae never sleeping? Here he is in Portland, performing with Lupe Fiasco. He shows up in Dallas with Yelawolf. When Rick Ross recaps his stop in Houston, Trae shows up onstage there as well. If that's not enough Trae action, well he shows up with a feature for SL Jones "Swervin'", and tips us to some upcoming features for Waka Flocka Flame, Mac Miller, and Big Sean.

The Mahas' Dead of Night seven-inch is finally arrived. Expect a proper release show on the near horizon.

Square And Compass wants everyone to get rowdy at shows, and is prepared to reward fans for doing so.

Been itching to hear a new Robert Ellis track? Check his Facebook page, where he's uploaded the song "What's In It For Me." New West also announced the track listing for Robert's upcoming album, Photographs, and provided us with a first look at the album cover.

American Fangs is planning to unleash five new songs at their May 13 show.

Chamillionaire unleashed some new tracks on Badazz Freemixes 1-9.

Marcus Manchild has an H-Town Remix of "Get Off Me," which features a list of Houston hip-hop juggernauts, including Bun B, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Paul Wall & Kirko Bangz.

Speaking of Kirko Bangz, he's got a new track, "Young Nigga".

Space City Rock and Caroline Sessions team up for a video interview with Benjamin Wesley.

ZenHill Records announced that Culturcide's long out-of-print Home-Made Authority is set for a reissue.

Mark A. Harris clarifies why Bun B is one of the most important people in hip-hop.

Hollywood FLOSS rolls out a new track, "None Of Y'all Better" from his new Stray Shots Vol. 1 mixtape.

Solange shares an old track she wrote over Boards of Canada's "Left Side Drive" a couple years ago.

Finally, here's a cause that we fully support. Joel from Fired For Walking announced that the in addition to their own records, their label Four Letter Music is going to begin issuing a series of singles by other artists. The goal is to pair up acts that might otherwise not cross paths. Best of luck, Joel - we can't wait to see what comes of it.
