In the land of MCM, it's always Friday and there's always a treasure trove of local music news. That's because we happen to structure it as such, but make no mistake, we've got a full truckload for everyone this week.
However, in what might be a MCM first, we don't have an actual mixtape from a rapper this week. Thus our soundtrack this week is the forthcoming EP from sloppy punks Crime Wave, Modern Lobotomies, which is due out on vinyl this June from Agro-Wax Records.

There is, to put it lightly, an abundance of live music available to everyone this weekend. Tonight offers something for everyone: from Lady Gaga at Toyota Center to Roky Moon And Bolt's tour kick-off at The Mink (we hear that Sig's Lagoon still has a few tickets for that). The Houston Sound series continues with Benjamin Wesley and Motel Aviv, Chingo Bling steps into House of Blues (with Fat Tony), George Clinton lands at Arena Theatre, while Warpaint and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart headline the rooms at Fitzgerald's.
Don't forget, KTRU's annual Outdoor Show, which is free as dirt, is Saturday, and features Mister Heavenly and Washed Out.
The party continues with Maserati unleashing an onslaught of sound at The Mink on Saturday. My Education and Co-Pilot round out the bill.
Tuesday features a pair of big shows as well, with Coheed & Cambria stopping at Warehouse Live and Gogol Bordello sure to make a mess of House of Blues.
Finally, MCM favorites and Austin-ites Oh No Oh My drop into The Mink on Wednesday, while Hunx & His Punx and The Raveonettes respectively headline downstairs and upstairs at Fitz.
