Morrissey Postpones Remainder of U.S. Tour, Including Beaumont

Morrissey's ailing mother has forced the singer to postpone his entire North American tour, according to promoter C3 Presents. The former Smiths front man and popular if mopey solo artist has already flown back to England to be with his mum.

Earlier this week, several dates in the Midwest were postponed, but a Morrissey rep said shows would resume this coming Monday (October 29) in Minneapolis. The tour was scheduled to stop at Beaumont's Jefferson Theater December 1, as well as El Paso, Wichita Falls and the Rio Grande Valley. Texas was about the only place where major markets were bypassed.

A C3 spokesperson sent the following statement from the tour:

All remaining dates on the current US Tour have been postponed -- but not cancelled -- as Morrissey has returned to England where his mother has been hospitalized and is unwell. Due to issues with his mother's health, Morrissey will need to remain by her side during this difficult period. This includes the date scheduled for 12/1/12 at Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont, Texas.

Those who have already purchased tickets for all upcoming dates are highly encouraged to hold on to their tickets and look out for the rescheduled dates. The new dates will be announced shortly.

Morrissey would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience as the shows are being prepared for a swift reschedule.

You have to wonder if they'll rethink that whole "smaller market" strategy when the tour announces new dates.
