Muhammadali needs a magic tour bus... not just to pick up school children and drive them around "inside the human body," they're also trying to get to a DIY punk festival called Awesome Fest 5 in San Diego. There will be a big benefit show with free food to raise money for the guys' prospective van on Saturday at Ponderosa (1503 Nance).
Eight bucks will get you barbecue, music from ten different local and national bands, art and the satisfaction of knowing that you personally contributed to one of your favorite -duh - Houston bands' tour mobility.
The event, which runs from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m., has brought together some laudable H-town bands such as Giant Princess, Clockpole, White Crime and Peloton. Expect to see B L A C K I E and Cop Warmth pairing together for a full set and maybe some good-natured full-frontal nudity as well.
Also on the bill are Exterminating Angels, Tigeraux, and of course, Muhammadali. Keyboard punk band Chicken and Whiskey from Jacksonville, Fla. will be taking a road trip to join in the fun.
In addition to the tunes and BBQ, a number of local artists have offered to donate some of their works to be sold at an art show that will be taking place throughout the day. Artists include Eyesore, Joe Ortiz, Julia Wallace, Kris Kotcher, Jeff Smith, Blake Jones, Shelby Hohl, Dual, Ack! and Mark Hougham.

So, mark your calendars for this Saturday and support some of your local artists and musicians together in one place. Who knows? Maybe one day Muhammidali will let you hitch a ride to Cali or New Orleans or something.
At the very least, you can get a free meal.
