Hope you're not doing anything Sunday, August 4. Or, whatever else you are doing, you can also join us that afternoon and evening at the Houston Press Music Awards Showcase, featuring almost 50 nominees in this years HPMAs. It's our 25th anniversary, by the way. Hi-yo silver.

For venues, we'll be back downtown in the area around House of Blues, with three HOB stages, plus MKT Bar, Dirt Bar, Reserve 101, Ben's Bean's and perhaps a stage or two TBD. But on to the performers, the best Houston has to offer in nearly every kind of music you can imagine.

We think you're going to like this list. Here goes:

  • A Thousand Colours
  • American Fangs
  • Another Run
  • Bang Bangz
  • Beetle
  • Born Again Virgins
  • Buxton
  • Caretta Bell
  • Chase Hamblin
  • DJ IPod Ammo
  • DJ Sun & Resolution
  • Doughbeezy
  • Fat Tony
  • Featherface
  • Free Radicals
  • Grievous Angels
  • Jealous Creatures
  • Junior Gordon Band
  • Justin Van Sant
  • Kristine Mills
  • La Sien

  • The Suffers
  • The Tontons
  • thelastplaceyoulook
  • Venomous Maximus
  • Wild Moccasins

Not bad, huh? Still more nominees should be added soon.

But even better than that lineup is the price. Tickets are only $10 and go on sale midnight tonight at HPMusicAwards.com. Through 9 a.m. this Friday (July 12), we're offering a flat $10 "No Fee Presale" that gets you out of ticketing fees, service fees, credit-card fees, or any other kind of fees. Be sure you use our promotional code HPMAS001, please.

All those fees do kick in when tickets officially go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, but that's still a dirt-cheap price for this kind of talent. And please don't forget to vote for your favorites -- voting continues until after the showcase is over. No need to wait until then, though.

The schedule will be announced soon. See the HPMA showcase site for anything else you might need to know, and stay tuned.
