OK, Your daily VJ has brought some rather impressive bits of WTF over the course of this column and not batted an eye. Goldfrapp wants to lead devil worshippers and the cast of Xanadu in a workout video? Fine, we can do that. People playing tennis with a human heart and an old drag queen gets her car washed while listening to The Irrepressibles "Inside Your Shirt?" No problemo, little buddy.

Bur Nick Cave and his new band Grinderman... now we shiver.

Cave and other members of The Bad Seeds started the side project as a way to revisit the raw, primal sound of the Birthday Party years, with Cave writing more on guitar rather than on his usual piano. The result was a 2007 self-titled release that was like being killed in the face with a corkscrew, but, y'know, in a good way.

Now the band is gearing up to release Grinderman 2 next month, and has unleashed upon the tubes the video for "Heathen Child." Frankly, the video is a good approximation of what we think doing crystal meth with Beelzebub would be like. A girl in a bathtub is continuously visited by a host of demonic spirits while Cave and company dance around in centurion garb and shoot fireballs from out of their asses - no, we're not kidding.

The song is everything you would expect a raw power rock Nick Cave would be, and the visuals are a glimpse into an unspeakable hell. It's depraved and sick beyond anything we have seen. It's a sign of the moral degradation of the modern world. We enjoyed it immensely.
