Houston's history is dotted with albums that, fairly or not, have been swept aside. We'll examine them here. Have an album that you think nobody knows about but should? Email [email protected].
Le$ The Beautiful Struggle (Self-released, 2010)
Le$, the least burly, most modern Boss Hogg Outlaw, released The Beautiful Struggle last year. It is good fun, almost a rap version of a blues album - there's even a song on there called "Muddy Waters" - that's disguised as an old soul album; there is a completely respectable, revamped version of Diana Ross's 1976 "Love Hangover."
Buoyed by production from DJ Mr. Rogers, Le$ is feather-lite and seamless on it, proving himself mean enough to keep pace with Slim Thug and deft enough to sound entirely comfortable in front of a jazz horn.
