Yesterday, as we were sifting the interweb for Koko Taylor material in the wake of her passing on to the great blues joint in the sky, we found this picture during a Google search.
This photo is of Taylor, with blues great Muddy Waters, Waters band member Jimmy Rogers, and famed pianist Otis Spann hanging out at Silvio's Lounge in Chicago, Illinois sometime in 1954.
Looking at this photo, a greater feeling of sadness seeps in. Taylor was truly one of the last of her kind. The idea of folks like Waters, Spann and Taylor just sitting around in Silvio's Lounge drinking and jamming on songs all night is downright mind-boggling.
