Rocks Off Seeking Fall Intern, School Band Photos

If you've been keeping up with Rocks Off lately, you know that sometimes some pretty interesting things can happen on college campuses. With school back in session now, we're looking for one lucky (we think) college student to help us keep up.

To qualify, you must be enrolled as a journalism or photography major at an accredited Houston-area college or university, taking a fall semester journalism/photo class that offers course credit for the internship and available to come into the Houston Press office two or three days a week (we're flexible).

Duties include reviewing concerts and taking pictures, interviewing and general reporting, assisting with club listings and other assignments as needed. You will not have to get us coffee. Please send resumes and at least two (2) writing samples to [email protected].

Also, Rocks Off is looking for band photos from our readers for a project we're working on in conjunction with this week's cover story, "Battle of the Bands." We are not looking for photos of your rock/punk/blues/reggae/whatever band (not right now, anyway), rather pictures of you in your finest marching-band and orthodontical regalia.

Please include name, school, instrument and year of graduation, and send those to [email protected] as well.

KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
