Sheena Easton, "Sugar Walls"
If you aren't familiar with the term, "sugar walls" is a euphemism for vagina. It's an incredibly confusing term, because all we think of is rock candy. There are other reasons we balk at the term, but we like having a job. Vanity, "Pretty Mess" No explanation needed. If you have to ask... The Divinyls, "I Touch Myself" This was one of the first songs to deal with female self-pleasurement in pop music in frank terms. Prince touched on it (hehe) on his own "Darling Nikki," but it was nice to finally get three minutes of an actual real woman talking about shaking her own foundations. ZZ Top, "Pearl Necklace" We didn't get this song's meaning until a fateful day after school in 1994, when a buddy of ours brought a copy of Penthouse to the bike rack. After that any time the song came on the radio while we were in the car with our parents, we either started talking louder or turned it down. Which was a dead giveaway, since we always did the opposite the previous 11 years. Berlin, "Sex (I'm A)" This is what it sounds like when American Apparel models have sex with each other. The Mentors, "Donkey Dick" All right, here come the Mentors. We couldn't forget the late El Duce, who is no doubt looking up at us from hell. Peaches, "Fuck The Pain Away" The mainstream queen of electroclash touched on a zeitgeist with this 2002 club hit, leading a new charge of chicks not shaving stuff and wearing spandex. Thanks? David Allan Coe, "Don't Bite The Dick" There are tons of DAC we could have thrown on here, but this was the least racially offensive. He's a cuddly enough guy, but his X-rated stuff makes John Mayer's recent rants sound tame in comparison. GG Allin, "I Wanna Fuck Your Brains Out" It wouldn't be a Rocks Off list without GG, and he suitably makes his mark here with this late-period gem. [Ed. Note: Where's Motorhead?] It's a universal theme all right, but not everyone screams at you to piss in their mouth. Grace Jones, "Pull Up To The Bumper" When we first got wind of Lady Gaga, the first person we thought of was '80s freak fixture Grace Jones. They are both cut from the same batshit cloth, and scare people to this very day. We think by bumper she may mean her behind, teehee.
