This Just In: The Flatlanders Cancel Cactus In-Store Gig

This morning word came from Cactus Music, via a quick MySpace bulletin, that the Flatlanders' in-store performance set for Saturday afternoon has been cancelled. No reason was given for the band backing out of the midday appearance.

The roots-rock supergroup, made up of Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock, is currently touring in support of March's Hills and Valleys release. The trio's Creighton Theatre gig in Conroe set for Saturday night seems to still be on, as no word of its cancellation has come down.

Cactus captain Quinn Bishop has no plans to put another band in the Flatlander's slot but will be meeting customers at the door to give them the lowdown. Saint Arnold will of course be on hand with free beer as a consolation.

New Orleans's own alt-rockers Better Than Ezra's in-store performance, set for 4 p.m. that afternoon, is still set to go off.
