You have all been asking, and now LiveNation is telling. Tickets for Van Halen's June 24th gig at Toyota Center go on sale next Saturday, January 289, and 10 a.m. Tickets will be available online at LiveNation.com or toyotacentertix.com. You know the ticketing drill.

A few weeks back LiveNation told Rocks Off that it will not in fact be Kool & The Gang opening for the Halen's and Roth in June. Then five minutes ago I get a press release saying it really is going to be Kool and the boys playing before VH. I hope this sticks.

The band's first album since 1998, A Different Kind of Truth, hits on February 7, and the first single "Tattoo" debuted a few weeks ago. And of course, Sammy Hagar hates it, telling a British rock blog, "It should be better than it is but hey, it is what it is and at least they got together and at least they came out with something."

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
