Big slap on the back to venerable Heights venue Fitzgerald's, celebrating its 31st anniversary tonight. Los Skarnales, seen here doing "Perdida" last month at the club, headlines upstairs over Denton Fitz favorites Brave Combo and locals Sister Sister Y los Misters.

Meanwhile, downstairs, it's San Antonio ska secret agents Spies Like Us, with Channel One, the Failed Attempt and the Unlikely Heroes. "Rude Girl," please step to the front of the line...

Classic rock, kooky classical and Houston's Western Civilization still to come...

Houston string quartet Two Star Symphony releases its Love and Other Demons at Rudyard's tonight with Opposite Day and the Invincible Czars. Their "Go Away" at something called the Light Lab...

Local indie-rockers the Western Civilization edify Walters on Washington with the Flyers, Pura Pharm and Wicked Poseur. Looks a little crowded up there...

And, of course, up at the Woodlands, it's all classic rock all the time this weekend. Tomorrow's Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick trifecta is sold out, but not so tonight's Foreigner/Bryan Adams bill. Let's take a little trip back to the "Summer of '69"... love the way the door slams open at the very beginning. Nostalgia is exciting!

A little "Heaven" for all the lovers out there...

Moving on to the headliners, here's one you probably recognize...

...but my favorite Foreigner song has always been at the other end of the temperature spectrum.

Tickets available at livenation.com. Check back tomorrow for as many Journey, Cheap Trick and Heart videos as our server will bear. - Chris Gray

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
