Welcome back to Turning the Screw, Rocks Off's weekly rap post. It probably won't rhyme, at least most of the time. E-mail tips to introducingliston@gmail.com. Thanks, homies.
"Hey, Remember That?" Single of the Week:"Who Dat Mad," Big Pokey, Big Steve and Big E
Wire to WireBun B interviewed with Hip Hop DX.There's nothing new of importance that you have to read, but it's Bun, so check it out. A long time ago we wrote about
the ban that 97.9 FM had on Trae's musicthat everyone was being very tight-lipped about. It looks like Trae, never one to mince words, is finally going to release that
You Can't Ban The Truthmixtape this week that people have been talking about. As soon as it hits the Net we'll post it here. Look for it. It'll be hot. And even if it's not, it will at least have a couple of parts where he's calling people out. That's always interesting. Oh, also, those Trae bobbleheads have surfaced. (More about the aforementioned mixtape
at this linktoo, but you have to give your email address to read about it.) Young Jeezy would like for you to forget that he ever called himself "Young Jeezy" please.
A simple "Jeezy"will suffice, because that's much less ridiculous.
Z-Ro Going Away Video of the Week:Did you know that Ice Cube has a blog? Better than that, did you know he's using it to talk about
how gangster he is? Irony is funny. Ooh, speaking of, rapper Big Pooh also has a new blog up. It's over at
SLAM's site. Dame Grease is going to be
executive producer on the new Lox album. Surely nothing can wrong when a guy named "Dame Grease" is in charge. Waka Flocka got arrested. Then he got out. We normally wouldn't bother to write anything about him, but this
all happened in Houston.
(Should Be) Blasphemous (But Is Actually Kind Of Ill) Chopped and Screwed Video of the Week:Jay-Z and Jack White linked up.Maybe this is what Jay was talking about on "On To The Next One" when he said, "Y'all should be afraid of what I'm gonna do next." You know how every once in a while a story will pop up on SportsCenter about how some athlete is going back to school so he can get his college degree?
This is the rapper version of that.Omar Gooding is going to
give rapping a try. Yeah, the same Omar Gooding that was the least convincing movie thug of all time in
Baby Boy. And what's more, his big brother, Cuba Gooding Jr., apparently has recorded a verse or two himself.
Chopped and Screwed Video of the Week:Lil' Keke's
Addicted to Famemixtape is supposed to come out in April. Fingers crossed.
