Twilight Singers

Fans of the departed Afghan Whigs, rejoice, because former Whigmaster Greg Dulli will be in action with the Twilight Singers at Warehouse Live Wednesday. Hopefully a gaggle of comprehension-challenged vampire-movie fans won't show up expecting a blood-sucking revue instead of Dulli and company's bitter, acidic rock. The Twilights were first conceived by Dulli in 1997 as a Whigs side project, and even issued an album in 2000. But he didn't go all in until the influential Whigs split in 2001. Today the Singers have released six albums, with a rotating cast of guest stars like Joseph Arthur, Ani DiFranco and Mark Lanegan, also Dulli's sparring partner in the shambolic Gutter Twins project. The Twilights' latest, Dynamite Steps (Sub Pop), has been getting great nods in the press and features an electric, mature sheen.
