Walter's Finally Has New Digs: Roky Moon Christmas Gig Announced

Now you can all stop asking us on Twitter: Walter's On Washington has found a new home, at 1120 Naylor, right behind DiverseWorks, according to a flyer and press release sent to us this morning. A Roky Moon & BOLT! holiday show set for December 25 featuring the Manichean and The Mathletes looks to be one of the first, if not the very first, show at the new venue.

The Walter's location on Washington has been shuttered for quite a few months now, with their scheduled shows getting shuffled to other venues like Fitzgerald's over the summer, closing in June.

What do you think about the new location? Myself and Chris Gray spent a few minutes in that area back in 2009 searching for clues, since the spots surrounding DW were the rumored landing of the new Walter's even two years ago. We did see a few probable candidates, but it seems to have taken longer than expected for everyone involved.

Support the independent voice of Houston and help keep the future of Houston Press free.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
