Rocks Off likes to troll the musicians section of Craigslist in an effort to catch interesting acts at their very inception. Usually we get the same old thing day in and day out:

If Rebecca Black has taught us anything, it's that the right video on YouTube can launch you into... actually there may not really be a word for what she is now. The point is you know her name and you know that song even though we're avoiding typing it like it's Voldemort. 60. Million. Views. We did cartwheels when a film of us being attacked by a Papillion hit 100,000.

However, even as the technology becomes more accessible and user friendly not all musicians have the ability produce a good music video. Now, you don't have to be. Laurel Portié, a recent transplant from Dallas, has three Regional Emmy awards for commercials she produced, shot and edited in the Jacksonville-Greenville market.

Now she's offering her services to local Houston bands for the flat sum of $100.

The reason for the bargain basement price is that Portié is currently using Vado HD pocket cams to shoot on, and is saving to upgrade her equipment to a Canon Marc D - the same camera they used to shoot the fifth season of House. However, Portié may continue the low cost even once her work improves in quality.

"I'm a musician" - that's her band The Loosies above - "and I know how hard it is for local artists to get cool stuff like music videos done on the cheap," says Portié. "I do them for my friends' bands, I do them for my own band, so I thought, while I'm out of work, why not help local bands get videos done and make a little something extra on the side?

"Music videos are pretty easy to make, especially with little to no budget. You don't need fancy equipment either these days, just someone who knows how to work a camera and let the editing magic flow!"

Portié's $100 rate is for any video you care to shoot to your recorded track. Live shows that require going through the soundboard will cost you a little extra. However, you're limited only by your imagination and the laws of physics for her basic service. Videos are edited using Final Cut, Adobe Premiere, and then After Effects for the fancy stuff and postproduction.
