Monday morning, word came down from Aerosmith and ZZ Top's respective camps, via Billboard
, that the two boogie-rocking bands are teaming up for a massive world tour. After some digging, Rocks Off found out the tour makes its Houston-area stop Friday, July 17, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. It won't be officially announced until next week (probably), but we have our ways. The tour, sponsored (or "presented") byGuitar Hero: Aerosmith
, takes both bands across Europe for a month of shows in addition to the slew of U.S. dates that will keep them here for most of the summer and early fall. The two are also set to headline the Download Festival at England's Donington Park June 12-14.
A little less than a month ago, Billy, Dusty, and Frank closed out this year's rodeo season withan ass-blasting Sunday-afternoon show
, and otherwise have been recording a new album off and on with producer Rick Rubin. All parties involved, including Rubin, say that the new material is melding into a strange mélange ofEliminator
with a healthy dose of aged grizzle. If you live within 100 miles of Houston and do not own those two albums in some format, pack up your trash and move to Vermont or something. We don't need your kind here.

Aerosmith, on the other hand, is attempting a mini-comeback of sorts. Their last few studios efforts this past decade of have been hella spotty, yielding only a handful of modest hits namely 1998's double entendre-flaunting smash single "Pink" from the confounding Nine Lives.
They still remain a massive live draw, and Steven Tyler's voice is holding up considerably well. In between guitarist Joe Perry's reconstructive knee surgeries, the band has been recording with Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen producer Brendan O'Brien. That new album will more than likely drop by late fall, according to Perry.
An on-sale date for the Woodlands show hasn't been announced as of yet, but you'll know as soon as we do. Surely it won't be long.
