Antwone Betters: On the Run, Charged with Capital Murder in Weed-Sale Killing

A suspect has been named in the murder of Camille Ross, 24, who was shot to death while allegedly trying to buy marijuana, Houston police say.

Antwone Jermaine Betters, 24, has been charged with capital murder in the case, police say. He is on the run and is believed to have relatives in the Waco area, HPD says.

Ross was with two other women attempting to buy weed from three men near Gallery Furniture about 8 p.m. June 10, HPD says. During the transaction, Betters pulled out a gun and demanded the trio's money and cell phones. Even though Ross gave her purse to the men, Betters or one of the other men shot her, police say.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Betters or on the identities of the other wanted suspects is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
