April Boggs: Police Searching for Edgar Zavala in Grisly Murder of Heights Woman

Houston police had little to go on when they found a dead body in a Heights apartment this summer

Since then, they've identified the victim as April Boggs, 42, and have determined that she was robbed, raped and beaten with a baseball bat by the killer who left her to die in the 200 block of West 18th Street the night of July 16. It took almost two weeks for neighbors to call cops because of the foul stench emanating from the apartment, which further hampered the investigation.

Now, however, police have a suspect charged with murder in the case, a mugshot and an appeal for help from the public.

Edgar Gonzalez Zavala, 45, also stole Boggs's car, cops say; the vehicle was recovered in Weimar.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of suspect Edgar Zavala is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Here's Zavala's mugshot:
