On Tuesday, a man was shot to death in the 10200 block of Forum West Drive. On Wednesday, a man was stabbed to death in the 10100 block of the street, which is tucked into a neighborhood near the Southwest Freeway and the West Sam Houston Tollway.

Wednesday's death in broad daylight, about 1 p.m., KHOU reports that a man who is believed to be the caretaker of the apartment complex on that block saw a man trying to break into one of the apartments and attempted to stop him.
A police unit responded and scuffled with the suspect, but he escaped on foot. The officer did fire a shot at him as he ran, but it is unknown if it hit him.
HPD has clarified some details on this and identified the victim. He is Fushan Zhang, 71, and Kevin Antonio Owens, 57, has been arrested and charged with capital murder.

An investigation has determined suspect Owens assaulted Mr. Zhang while attempting to rob him and then fatally stabbed Zhang. Owens fled on foot. A short time later, he was confronted by Officer Simpson. At that time, Owens attempted to stab Officer Simpson and tried to take her weapon. Officer Simpson's weapon was discharged during the struggle, but Owens was not struck. He then fled on foot and was later apprehended about 9:40 p.m. when he returned to the crime scene.
