It's the end of the year, which means lots of best-of lists, and we're happy to announce that our own Best Of... app made the iTunes 2011 Rewind's list off best travel apps.
The app, which was released in March, contains all of the Best of Houston winners, as well as winners from our sister papers across the land and in tourist destinations like Austin, Chicago and Philadelphia. In all, more than 30 cities are represented. It also received a pretty glowing review from Wired back when it was first released.
The app was updated just a few months ago when our 2011 Best of Houston issue came out. And even though it's featured on iTunes, you don't have to own an iPhone to get it. The Best Of app is also available for Droid phones in the Android Marketplace, and as a mobile friendly Web site available on all other smartphones.
Want to know the best part? The app is totally, 100% free. So what are you waiting for?
Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
