Beth Moore, the subject of this week's Houston Press cover story, has resigned from her fundraising position at UT-Southwestern Medical Center, D Magazine is reporting.
In this week's story, we examined the finances of a Houston charity founded by Moore in 2010, CancerForward. Since its inception, the charity has spent more than half of its revenue on IT vendors, which neither Moore nor anyone on the board of directors would identify.
The Center's spokeswoman, Lori Stahl, told D that Moore tendered her resignation Thursday, effective July 9.
"Stahl said that the university was unaware of the nonprofit’s shaky finances when Moore was hired," the magazine reports.
Moore worked in the Office of Development, "which raises money to fund clinical and research initiatives," D reports, adding that "her name has already been scrubbed from the website."
Moore had held the position for roughly four months. We're not sure what the future holds for CancerForward, but maybe it's about time someone from the charity step up to the plate and open the books.
